Staging a Home = More Money and a Quicker Sale
Why stage?
Did you know that staging can add up to 20% to your home's sale price?
You never have a second chance to make a first impression. A buyer typically only takes 15 seconds to decide if they like a property. Why leave that impression to chance?
Does it even work?
A study completed by the Real Estate Staging Association (RESA) showed that homes that are staged received offers 73% faster than those that are not staged. The study included 174 homes that were on the market for an average of 156 days before the homeowners gave up trying to sell. After the professional home stager had the home staged and the homes were re-listed, the homes sold in an average of 42 days.
Is home staging worth the cost?
As Sid Pinkerton, a New York City-based stager, points out, if you found a financial planner who could give you a return on investment (ROI) of 5%, 10%, or sometimes as much as 20%, “wouldn’t you think they were a genius? Well, that’s what a good stager can do.”
According to the NAR report, 58% of sellers' REALTORS® believe that buyers offer more money for a home that has been staged (29% think they offer 1% to 5% more; 21% put the increase at 6% to 10%; 3% put it as high as 20%). Home Staging Resource is even more bullish on staging. Its website states that in a survey of 3,500 staged home, 45% sold for 10% more than they would have unstaged.
